Reencuentro Taíno Conference 2025
Date: Saturday, August 9, 2025 | Location: Virtual
Theme: "We Are Connected"
Call for Presentations
Due Date: March 31, 2025
As Indigenous people, we have long felt disconnected—divided by colonial boundaries and the loss of language, traditions, and knowledge. For the Taíno, much of our history was believed lost, yet today, efforts to bridge these gaps are thriving. We reconnect by reclaiming ancestral languages, reviving traditional knowledge, reinterpreting history from Indigenous perspectives, and collaborating with Indigenous relatives to restore our shared heritage.
The 2025 conference theme, "We Are Connected," highlights the vital importance of revitalizing the Taíno language, the focus of this gathering, alongside other efforts to reconnect with ancestral traditions and build bonds across Indigenous communities.
We welcome proposals for presentations, especially those focused on:
-
Revitalizing and teaching the Taíno language through an interdisciplinary and/or collaborative approach.
-
Developing innovative technologies to preserve and share Indigenous languages.
-
Research focusing on connections among Taíno and other Indigenous peoples.
-
Initiatives restoring language, music, arts, or traditions across the Caribbean and beyond.
-
Other projects that strengthen community bonds in meaningful ways.
